Episode 14: Monster Boy
Eros is home with his mother, looking distraught. The pig from the Mortal Realm is on a leash with a bow, and Aphrodite reads next to him on the couch. Eros remembers Psyche sobbing and feels hopeless, wishing someone would help her. His heartstrings clench, and he asks Aphrodite for his own apartment, which she easily agrees to.
“I’M HERE FOR PSYCHE.” -Eros, Ep. 14
In the Mortal Realm, Psyche’s sisters grow jealous that their sister is betrothed to the richest merchant in the area. Her sisters say that although she’s the most beautiful and their father’s favorite, nothing is good enough for her. Meanwhile, Psyche cries, miserable, standing next to this old man who is to be her husband against her will.
On the eve of Psyche’s wedding, she stands silent next to her betrothed, who makes a crude joke about the wedding night, which is met with uproarious laughter. The merchant realizes that Psyche isn’t laughing and he grabs her, reminding her that he paid for her, has bought her nice things, and expects gratitude.
Suddenly, all of the torches go out and the room is cast into total darkness. Out of a pink mist enters a winged man (Eros), his face covered by a helm. He demands Psyche and takes her. When asked who he is, he replies, “The ugliest creature you’ve ever seen.”
