Episode 155: Scar Tissue
Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 1 May 2021
Persephone asks Hecate about her mother. Hecate explains that she’s a bird, in good spirits, but is laying low. This makes Persephone breathe a sigh of relief. She then asks if her mother knows where she is, to which Hecate replied that Demeter didn’t want to know. Hecate tells Persephone she’ll let her tell her own mother her whereabouts. Persephone gulps, and Hecate says she doesn’t envy her.
Persephone muses back to when Demeter was so upset that she spoke with Hades for “a measly five minutes.” In a flashback, Demeter is scolding Persephone after her encounter with the God of the Dead. Persephone says he finds him aesthetically pleasing, much to Demeter’s dismay.
“You should consider the list of things you thought you couldn’t do because you can actually do a lot of them. And that list is growing and fast. You need to regain control. So that the next time you turn someone into a plant, it’s on purpose instead of on accident.”
Hecate
She asks Hecate what she’s going to do with Minthe. Hades is seen on another side of the office, trying his best to tidy Minthe’s leaves. Hecate advises Persephone to recalibrate how she sees herself and gives her a card for a therapist. The phone rings, and Hecate answers it, then hands it to Persephone saying it’s for her.
Meanwhile, Hera is seen sitting on a tree branch. Hades hesitantly approaches her and asks her not to go through with the plan. Hera insists that it is her choice. Hades disappears, and a pair of large eyes appear behind Hera. Kronos’s voice echoes through as he grabs her. Hera screams, waking up.
Zeus immediately rushes to her aid. Hera is screaming it burns and that Kronos saw her. Zeus carries her the showers, assuring her that it is just a nightmare and that Hades “took care of him.” Hera lifts her hand and, horrified, realizes that she’s bleeding ichor.
WHAT WE LEARNED
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Zeus and Hera are seen sleeping in separate rooms. Though this could be attributed to them having marital problems (they were seen in the same bed in the earlier chapters, implying they sleep in the same bedroom), separate suites, especially for royalty, are common in antiquity.
Ichor is the blood of the gods. In Lore Olympus, the color of ichor is gold. However, some texts say that the ichor is also blue in color.
