Background
Hades’ brothers have expressed their dislike for Minthe. Poseidon states that Minthe is the “meanest nymph he’s ever met.” Hera also refers to Minthe as “nymph trash”, and offered to punish her with boils upon finding out what she did to Hades.
Minthe, Thanatos, and Thetis are part of a messaging group called “Snarky Chat” where they insult other beings.
Minthe has deep-seated insecurities and issues. Because of this, she lashes out and has a tendency to sabotage herself and others. She struggles with the idea of growing and becoming well-adjusted.
Appearance
Minthe appears to be thin and beautiful. Her shade is the same red color as Kronos’ stomach in Hades’ nightmares. She is often seen in black, form-fitting clothing and fishnet stockings.
As of Episode 152, Minthe has been turned into a mint plant.
Relationships
HADES
Minthe had a toxic, abusive on/off relationship with Hades. She is afraid of commitment and was adamant about not wanting to be Queen of the Underworld. When she found out Hades was planning to propose to her at the Panathenaea, she decided to ditch him. However, things changed when Persephone came along. She was furious with him over the tabloid, which surprised Hades as she “doesn’t get jealous.” She went over at Hades’ house and begged him not to leave her behind and that she was not ready for what they have, whatever it was, to be over. She believes that she and Hades are meant to be “messed up together.” When she physically assaulted Hades and told him no one would ever want him for he resembles his own father (Hades’ abuser), she was suspended. Thetis later visited her and she expressed concern over losing her job and her apartment, not what she did to Hades. When Hades breaks up with her, Minthe tries to manipulate him and tells him that he’ll “come back eventually” because they were “the same.” In Episode 112, she tries to get under Persephone’s skin, implying that when Hades realizes she is “not what he signed up for”, he’d come back to her.
thanatos
Minthe was also implied to be casually hooking up with Thanatos. She stopped this arrangement after she and Hades have begun an official relationship.
THETIS
Minthe has a strained, competitive friendship with Thetis. They would casually exchange insults as a way of greeting. It seems that she and Thetis are in a competition regarding the relationships they have with the Kings. Thetis refers to Hades as Minthe’s “meal ticket.”
