Artist Feature: Kota
Kota enjoys writing, drawing, cosplaying and playing Dungeons and Dragons. While most of their hobbies have slowed down since having their daughter, Kota is steadily getting back into them when not working as a live in manager to their in-law’s motel.
How long have you done art? What mediums have you tried?
I’ve been drawing off and on since Highschool, mostly digital mediums. Photoshop and Clipstudio.
How would you describe your style?
A sketchy mess. I’m still trying to find my style, so I’m not even sure how to answer this.
Tell us your Lore Olympus story. What got you into Lore Olympus? What made you stay?
I was drawn to Lore Olympus because of art style. However, the secondary characters made me stay. I enjoy their shenanigans.
If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would it be?
Like….if I could be in the body of a character or have them be my temporary best friend?
I feel like both options would have to be Hera, because then I could be stylish for once in my life and rant about mom stuff.
Which Lore Olympus fan art are you most proud of and why?
There’s a not-suitable-for-work (NSFW) Ares X Aphrodite I have where I attempted to shade AND added a background. This was stepping out of my comfort zone...not the NSFW part but the shading and background bits. I post NSFW work (free) on my Patreon page.
Any advice for someone looking to build their art skills?
Practice. It sounds boring, and I’m guilty of not doing it enough myself, but there's a few sites where you can do timed challenges for figure drawing, to practice form. If there's something you avoid drawing, practice it.
And if all else fails and them arms are just looking funky or a pose just isn’t coming to you, there's plenty of reference for things out there.
