Episode 145: Heirs

Released: 21 February 2021
Hecate arrives home to a quiet house for a beer, and is surprised when Demeter appears from hiding. The Goddess of the Harvest is upset and paranoid about Zeus finding her and wonders where Kore is. Hecate assures her she’s safe but doesn’t tell her where.
Demeter recounts her experience since hearing of the arrest warrant while in Olympus on a business trip. Instead of returning to the mortal realm, she considered Hestia and Hera, but worried about their loyalties, finally deciding to visit Hecate instead.
She explains she’s been in disguise as a bird this whole time.
“Everyone has collectively decided that fertility goddesses are of little consequence these days. They do little more than assist in keeping the earth plentiful as far as anyone is concerned. But the truth is, they are a wealth of untapped power.”
Demeter
Demeter then worries over Zeus finding out Persephone is a fertility goddess, explaining her theory. While society sees fertility goddesses as of little consequence, Demeter believes they were a key power source for Ouranos, Kronos, and Zeus, quickly running through a backstory of these gods. Each father was betrayed by his son with the help of a fertility goddess - Gaia, Rhea, and Metis. Demeter worries Persephone will make Zeus afraid the same thing will happen to him.
Hecate points out that neither Ares or Hephaestus shows any hint of wanting to overthrow Zeus, and he has no other godly male heirs. The episode ends with a flash of Apollo flying through the skies of Olympus.
The Dread Queen has arrived, and Kronos is not prepared.
