Episode 56: A New Point of View

Editor: Annie LaHue
Released: 28 April 2019

Megaera sobs at Minthe’s latest Fatesbook update, which confirms their relationship. She expresses her disbelief, asking why he would choose Minthe. Persephone calls to her and asks if she’s alright. Megaera replies that she’s just having a bad day. Persephone asks if she wants to talk about it. Megaera sees Persephone and realizes she’s the goddess from the tabloid. Persephone sits beside her as Megaera explains that it’s stupid. But Persephone shuffles closer to her and assures her that it’s not stupid. Megaera sniffs and says that the guy she likes has started dating someone else. Persephone scratches her chin and quietly agrees that it bites the big one. Both girls sit on the bench with their heads bent sadly, agreeing that men are complicated.

Persephone comforts Meg and tells her that he doesn’t deserve a rare beauty like her. This brightens the fury and genuinely gives her a warm smile. She then offers that since they’re kind of the same size, she can borrow something of hers if she wants. Persephone smiles.

Meanwhile, Hades, donned in mortal realm garb, is walking along an aisle of columns. He’s sighing to himself, musing that this is so much harder than he thought it was going to be. He fidgets slightly, and firmly thinks to himself that he’s supposed to be putting space between him and Persephone. He rubs his hand on his face. He shakes his head and tells himself that he has self-control. He must have. As he walks, he sees Persephone, beautifully clad in the clothes of a fury.

Hades firmly reiterates his thoughts: He is an all-powerful god. He’s got his shit together. He has a strong handle over his impulses. But when Persephone turns to look at him and exclaims, “There you are! Look, I’m a fury!” Hades loses it. Persephone teases him and says to him in a sing-song voice, she’s here to punish  him. Hades internally masculine panics and collapses.

He tells her had he known she had a taste for punishment, she would have given her a different job. Surprised, Persephone says she thought Hecate assigned her role. Hades says he’s the mastermind behind the choice. He takes out something from inside his sleeve and hands Persephone a card, saying homemade business cards don’t fit their corporation branding. Persephone looks at the card and sees that Hades had her own business card made and that her job title states “shade coordinator.”

Seeing her wary reaction, Hades panics and thinks that she doesn’t like it.  Persephone is unsure if she can do the job. This surprises Hades and counts his fingers, saying that one, it’s fact that Persephone is smarter than Hermes and Thanatos, combined; two, she’s clearly very powerful. Hades places his hands on her shoulders as he admiringly looks at her and says, she was able to make a forest in a place where nothing is meant to live. Persephone leans in closer towards him and asks, “Do you really think I’m powerful?” Hades simply grins and says, “I, for one, find you terrifying.” As Persephone leans closer, Hades asks how things are with her powers. Persephone replies nothing out of the ordinary. Their lips almost touch, Persephone has her eyes closed. Hades holds her arms and says that she’s flying.

In Zeus’ office, Thetis is looking at her computer screen and shrieks.  She saw Minthe’s Fatesbook post about her and Hades’ relationship. She frowns while she scratches her cheek, wondering how Minthe got ahead of her in terms of a relationship. She purses her lips in thought, realizing she needs to step up her game. Then, from her window, she sees Zeus together with Hera and Hebe. Thetis had forgotten that his family was coming in today.

She muses on how they look like a perfect family, as Zeus leans in to give Hera a kiss. She tells herself she has to fix that.
